Public Relations (Not)

Here is something about public relations that many ministers may not know. Public relations is about ... relating with the public, and relating well. But what if you have a scandal on your hands? Here is where many organisations switch from Plan A to Plan B. Plan A is transparency and redress. Plan B is this:

1. Remain silent under all circumstances
2. Be prepared to pay to avoid mention
3. If there is any kind of exposé, ride the tiger
4. But keep other public relations humming

This is according to Tim Steel, chairman of Committed Capital. OBSERVATION: It happens in the Church, too. Stony silence. However, I consider that Plan B's results are ruinous, mainly in indirect ways. If the people behind a Plan B survive it, the dynamics of the organisation are so affected that it may well become moribund.
