Attitude to Ministerial PTSD

I blogged yesterday about PTSD in ministry, which may affect more than a third of ministers. Which is to say, more than one-third of ministers may have had their ministry seriously disrupted by the condition. This is where the Church's view of ministry is critical. If a minister is called by God, one will know that God will use this man or woman mightily, in spite of the condition. Also, one will seek to strengthen the minister's hand in love. But if a minister is an exemplar of confident and victorious captaincy, one will criticise their weakness, and may well seek to replace them. It is the difference between law and grace: condemn them by law, or understand that God graciously uses those He calls.
