I am putting a lot of energy into seeking representation for my book. I prepare (sometimes complicated) proposals with care for each agent I approach -- which is to say, I am not scattering proposals like confetti. There is often a "form" response, but quite a few reply personably -- and positively. A managing director commented on my book this morning,
POSTSCRIPT: At the same time, I received a personal referral to a leading philosophy agent. Such referrals are very valuable. However, this perfectly coincided with his announcement: "At the present time we are unable to accommodate any new clients." My luck is out -- for now.
"As a reader, I would absolutely buy this."However, her company's non-fiction agent has dropped out, and it isn't a book that everyone can take on. OBSERVATION: I would absolutely buy it, too. It is a question I continually ask myself: "Would I buy this, if I were not the author?" My book says (almost) all I wish my favourite writers had not fudged. To fudge means to evade.
