At the beginning of one of my ministries, the Church was unable to pay its bills. I didn't know this. The treasurer would show us income and expenditure in our meetings, but he didn't mention that expenditure was owing (I forget the details now, as to how we could miss that). One day I went to fill up the car at the garage. The garage owner came across to me and said, You keep filling up with petrol but you don't pay your bills! I felt awful about that. The treasurer said OK, he'd level with us. He was stringing creditors along. There was nothing else he could do. Thankfully, we recovered from this situation in time, and creditors were paid.
