Doctors on Dying
I have long experience with people dying. Something I have learnt about doctors is that you absolutely cannot trust what they say when it comes to death. That is not to say that none speak the truth, and sometimes death defies everyone's expectations. OBSERVATION: When my own wife died, there were a number of occasions on which medical professionals fed me complete nonsense. I didn't believe them -- because of my experience with death. One of the dangers of misleading people is that the dying person may become terribly isolated. They know that they are dying, but nobody believes them -- and it is just the moment when they need to be believed. I think that ministers more often speak honestly.
