Church Decline

There is much discussion about the decline of the Church in the West -- and what it comes down to. There could be many things. I read an article today which cited declining birth rates, increasing well-being, growing scientific knowledge, new ethical bearings, abuses in the Church, the importance of God, and so on. I would put it down to a loss of the sovereignty of God. It goes to the definition of religion:
"The belief in and worship of a superhuman controlling power, especially a personal God or gods."
In a closed universe of causality, there is no room for God. I consider, though, that the philosophy which supports such a view is inadequate. My own metaphysic takes apart the closed universe of causality, and further suggests how this would be relevant to faith (however, one can only say so much philosophically, without straying beyond the bounds of philosophy).
