Developing People

A frequent complaint in business is that people are stagnating. There isn't anything happening to develop them. High on my priority list has been to develop people in the Church -- especially if they are seeking development in ministry. So, for instance, a member of staff requested one more day off each week, to do prison ministry. We said yes, for the reason that we wanted him to pursue what God was calling him to. However, we said that there were two sides to this, and he should make it up to us. OBSERVATION: He went on to become an ordained pastor -- and this could well have been influenced by his ministry in prisons. It is, too, a spiritual principle: "I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God" (2 Timothy 1:6).
