At last, I have made my mark on history. A leading churchman in the Pacific asked me what one calls a 150th anniversary celebration. I said one calls it a great occasion -- but a "sesquicentennial" to be exact. The event is now officially called the SESQUICENTENNIAL. The Church in Kiribati is celebrating the 150th anniversary of the coming of the London Missionary Society. The Society wisely turned up with 69 Samoan missionaries 150 years ago.
OBSERVATION: They did an enormous work. It seems hard to believe.
