I have been commenting on someone's doctoral work, to help them through a block. The work is about Church growth and decline -- and movement among denominations, called transfer growth. Looking over the statistics, quite a lot of transfers happen through marriage: a couple decides that they will both attend the same Church. Quite a lot of it happens through schooling: parents choose a school for their children, which belongs to this or that denomination. But in this situation, the largest number of people change denominations because they are visited or taught. It suggests to me that some denominations are boldly entering the homes of members of other denominations, and recruiting people, above all through the method of teaching.
