Oberon Operating System
I was surprised to get a "cult classic" operating system going on my computer yesterday: Oberon 3 or ETH-Oberon. It was designed by Niklaus Wirth (pictured) and Jürg Gutknecht. It is an "extremely compact" window system, first released in 1987, and still going today in one form or another. In this case, it is "Read the manual." One is unlikely to figure it out without it. I loaded a text editor and a graphics editor, but didn't explore. OBSERVATION: Prof. Wirth is world famous for his systems, so I have no doubt that Oberon works. My daughter-in-law is an administrator at Wirth's university, and my late wife and Gutknecht lived in the same town.
