I recently ordered a big box of components from a pre-eminent electronics supplier. I had sworn that I would never do business with them again -- but I had forgotten why. My components arrived, on time, in good condition, well packed, and (nearly) all there. This was quite impressive, by local standards. The order included 100 metres of special wire. Yesterday, I measured 12 metres, and another 12 metres. I estimated that I had 15 metres left. That makes 39 metres. What happened to the other 61? It was by far the most expensive item on my list.
