Thinking on the current trial in France, where a lie may have led to a brutal murder: in city ministry, the story circulated once that the minister (me) murdered a man in cold blood. It was a fairly detailed account. People said, that's so absurd don't think twice about it. But some believed it. I said I could be the next one murdered in cold blood.
OBSERVATION: The ditty goes, "Sticks and stones will break my bones, but words will never harm me." Words, however, can do material damage. People do believe them.
