Fatally Flawed Process

I have been presenting proposals to literary agents. Some will have a fatal flaw built into their process—not many, say 10% of them. For instance, they request submissions in a certain field, but fail to note that theirs is a sub-field. A proposal wasted. Or an agent quits, but the agency fails to notify the public. Another proposal wasted. This morning I encountered a classic -- this one gets first prize. I filled in an on-line submission form -- I did it thoughtfully, it took me an hour -- then I clicked SUBMIT. A message popped up: "X is closed to queries." OBSERVATION: There could be another twist to this story, though. They may have fogotten to remove this message from their on-line section.
