Chromebook and Linux

Chromebook computers are by now ubiquitous. It has always been possible to run the Linux operating system on such computers, with some "surgery". But two years ago, Google announced that all of its Chromebook computers would be "Linux-ready". One can now run Linux applications on Chromebooks, and these are many and varied, and include some powerful applications: word processing, video editing, emulation, and so on. OBSERVATION: In fact, Chromebooks have been based on Linux all along.
