Background Checks

A college student was murdered in the USA, and the murderer sentenced this week. There is a debate as to whether one should note that the murderer is an illegal immigrant, which some will not. In the Church, a person’s background would matter. It is crucial to check it -- and not have people in the mix who have gone unchecked. Some of the biggest problems I have experienced in ministry involved persons whose background we did not check -– and usually, they had persuaded us that we didn’t need to, or that information was not available. OBSERVATION: Not that illegal immigrants are trouble, but it is hazardous not to do the formalities.
