Language Play

I find that there are some fairly fundamental differences between English thinking (I was born in England) and African thinking (which is all of the subcontinent, as best I can tell). Here is one. English people often say things they absolutely do not mean (say, "Nice weather today"). But African people are not attuned to hearing such things, and tend to take them literally. However, they have their own twist on language. They will say things they absolutely do not mean (say, "Your mother is coming today"), with the difference that this causes people to behave differently. OBSERVATION: This is not done for any benefit, as is the case when one lies -- except laughter.
