Growth Not Vital

My son is a Youth Pastor. I received a call from my daughter-in-law last week. I asked her whether his work was growing. "Hmm," she said. "Is it growing?" "Yes," he said, "it's growing." This brief exchange illustrates an attitude that I myself have had to ministry. One isn't too interested whether it's growing or not. Firstly, if God is doing the growing, it isn't really one's department. Secondly, one can't become fixated on growth. Churches go up and down, from week to week, even from generation to generation. OBSERVATION: All of my Churches saw strong growth under my ministr(ies). Naturally, there are variations in Churches which are not good signs.
