Decision-Making in Trauma

The question often arises in ministry: whether anyone, including ministers, should make big decisions following major trauma. Some people say freeze, don't make any major decisions for a year, maybe two. Yet if I look back over ministry, and try to judge it dispassionately, I have seen several people making both fast and big decisions following major trauma, which brought lasting blessing. I have not so much seen the opposite, which is poor decisions coming out of trauma. OBSERVATION: However, it makes eminent sense to be prayerful, and aware, if not watchful, of the state one is in. Also, the kinds of decisions one may make after trauma may be unfamiliar. If one loses the use of an arm, or loses a wife, or loses one's country, the decisions become different.
