Fewer Women
I am a co-editor of the philosophy weekly Pi. Someone wrote in, "Why don't you ever publish anything by women?" We have, however, had many women contributors: Tessa den Uyl, Lina Ufimtseva, Berenike Neneia, Bohdana Kurylo, Nada Spencer, Rorine Tioti, and more besides. This month, I invited a woman mathematician to write for us (the answer is yes). Admittedly the men are more. The most basic reason for this is that fewer women submit. OBSERVATION: A concern of mine has been the relatively few developing-world contributors, in spite of strenuous efforts to obtain them.
