Holy Spirit Membership

There are Churches which engineer their memberships. For me, this would include Churches which have target demographics -- a kind of "soft" engineering. I feel that a Church should develop as the Holy Spirit leads it to develop, with new members being decided by the whole Body, the Church. Bearing in mind that it is not always directly about members. Various decisions might influence membership. OBSERVATION: It is tempting sometimes to say, the minister turned our membership into this or that -- and the minister will inevitably have an influence, even if he or she would rather not. The question, though, is whether a Church has really done its best to hear the Holy Spirit.
