I co-edited this troubling piece last week, published this morning in Pi: The Dark Future of Freedom. In my
thinking, though, the gathering of data that the article speaks about is merely an apparent problem. While it is troubling, the real problem lies in what the algorithms leave out. Billions of bits of data are gathered and processed the world over, each second -- but that processing excludes society and nature. That spells disaster.
