Victimisation of Informants

Lately, the victimisation of informants (whistle-blowers) in South Africa has been receiving worldwide attention. It has made the headlines in various countries -- the most recent article I read is on Deutsche Welle. I was an informant in one of South Africa's earliest and most serious cases, some ten years after the first democratic elections (we are now nearly thirty years on). I became involved through a counselling session. I was terrorised for that -- and another informant was victimised. After that, my Church sent me on a special holiday in a place called Vermont, to be revived. OBSERVATION: Back then, people looked at me strangely if I spoke of such things. Now, well of course, people have little difficulty believing such stories, of various kinds. The situation now seems more dangerous than it was then -- however, terrorisation and vitimisation are not really a good way to hide now.
