About ten years ago, in this little house, I negotiated lobola (an African marriage custom). This post briefly looks back. Lobola meant that there were things more important than love -- which was a plus. It bonded families and clans -- which was a plus. The tradition returned to me (more than) what it cost -- which was a plus. A little known fact is that lobola involves ongoing obligations on both sides.
