"We live in a bubble," my dentist said to me in December, of Cape Town's Atlantic Area. There are such bubbles, insulated from the rest of South Africa. For fear of harping on one string, in recent months, South Africa has suffered massive damage. This was a 100-metre fence around a community centre, in the Koukamma district. About 50 metres of fencing were lost in the last few months, and many of these posts. This means that the community centre itself is no longer protected, and is suffering harm.
POSTSCRIPT: Whoever is in charge, the sense is that they have given up. They have abandoned ship. But why?
