We are about ten hours into a blackout in our part of Cape Town. It is the first “stress test” of a small backup system that I put in place, At the moment, my guess is that I can keep my computer and communications going for 24 hours.
OBSERVATION: It took me hours to get some sense of what was going on here and to log a problem -- not knowing the extent of it to begin with. Over the phone, they have said that a substation has failed. On the Internet, it is “no current problems”. Often, that is what the world sees in regard to South Africa.
