Protégé's Success

Something I do "just for the fun of it" (gratis), is to help students from the Third and Fourth worlds with theses. The last such thesis dealt with water quality surrounding Cape Town. This week, I was delighted to hear that my young Black protégé has been accepted for Master's studies in France. OBSERVATION: I do not, however, intervene in students' work. I tell them what I think, I point out areas where they could improve, I tell them to look things up, and so on. I learn a lot from these theses, too. Sometimes I enter worlds I didn't know existed.
