There is much emphasis in some Churches on "community". There is in fact a theology of community (for example Stanley Grenz). I consider that it is not healthy if one's emphasis shifts too far towards "community" -- if it goes there at all. Community is a by-product of the calling of the Church, which lies elsewhere. It fails as a central focus. It is, however, an important by-product. OBSERVATION: I forget my sources now, but I have read that an emphasis on community tends to be self-defeating -- because it creates expectations, which people fail. An emphasis on community may also create a dangerous tendency towards ... call it factions.
