Church Demographics

The subject is demographics, or the way that a Church is made up -- age, income, race, and so on. There are two basic approaches. To put it simply, one may either seek to engineer a Church's demographics, or one may consider that God Himself shapes its demographics. Some Churches overtly shape their demographics, and others more subtly. I take the second view, that God shapes a Church's demographics. OBSERVATION: From time to time, people accused me of the first approach. I said, who received members into membership? It was the membership. The membership shaped the demographics. Or to put that spiritually, the Holy Spirit did, through the members. One needs to be constantly alert, however, that one is not in fact shaping demographics. Above all, there should be no favouritism. Easily said.
