Finding Middle Ground

With regard to yesterday's post, there was the situation of a false arrest, and there were reasons why people set that up. But in my thinking on revealing what happened, principles collided. On the one hand, an absolute entitlement to defend oneself (openness); on the other hand, ministerial confidences (secrecy). Openness vs. secrecy. There are various such conflicts in our society -- above all, absolute rights vs. pluralism. I settled on a balance between entitlement and confidences, revealing only the outline of confidences, while claiming the entitlement.
