Locals in Hawaii have complained of tourists frolicking while they mourn. It might go deeper than that. I visited a Pacific island once, of which I did not know the traditions and taboos. I walked down to the beach. But the beach was completely deserted. I asked someone, "Why is there no one on the beach?" They said, "It is taboo. The king has died." That was the king of Vanua Levu. OBSERVATION: Officially, he was the paramount chief, but they referred to him as king. Although I wasn't frolicking, I stepped onto the beach, and so broke the taboo. One report of frolicking tourists is here: https://www.bbc.com/news/av/world-us-canada-66491326
