Mother's Diaries

My late mother was very well connected -- unusually so, too, for someone in her late 80's. While sorting through her books, I came across her diaries. These made telegram-style notes of significant events -- yet what struck me in particular was that she arranged one ... call it public appointment each day. This might have been a big event, or it might have been something as simple as meeting a minister (pastor). Year after year, she continued this custom, right into high old age and frailty. OBSERVATION: This is, I think, quite unusual. I doubt that there are many people who do that.
