Suppressed Inference

Here's a finer point of philosophy -- but actually, it's big. I opened up The Routledge Dictionary of Philosophy today at "Ethics". The Dictionary asks, "What things are good, right, etc.?" I see what is called a suppressed inference here. "Are" does not have its normal, everyday meaning, and the authors seem to miss that. What they seem to mean by "are" here is in fact more like "equal". Do you see it?
