I was very sorry to hear of the death of Mavis Marran this week -- second from the right in the newspaper clip. A young(ish) mother who was afraid to leave the house, we took a chance on her, and appointed her as Church secretary in (now) Gqeberha. She was transformed. The Church flourished. She became an outstanding all-rounder, who shone in every aspect of her life. She and I confided in one another -- and were in touch until shortly before her death -- of a stroke, this week. My sincere condolences to family and friends.
