Soup Kitchen

A local Church ran a soup kitchen. But as the suburb slipped deeper into poverty, so did the Church. The demands on the Church grew, and the queues grew longer. The Church tried to stretch what they had. But what good is it, a member asked me, if all that people get at the end of the day is flavoured water? Finally, the Church quit. One of the "soup team" refused to eat soup again, until the day the soup kitchen would re-open. OBSERVATION: it gives an idea of the social problems in some areas of Cape Town.
