Defined by Christ

I attended my old city Church this morning. The minister gave a strong message, wrapping up a series of sermons on Defined by Christ. His message: we are justified by faith alone. Yet it seemed characteristically Presbyterian or Calvinistic. I found it striking what the minister did not say: the first mark of the Spirit in one's life is the conviction of sin (or however one might prefer to put it). OBSERVATION: There were arguably no marks of Congregationalism on the service at all, which seems quite extraordinary for a Congregational Church. This has probably been my core concern since I left.
