I was in city ministry for about twenty years. My last financial year (April to March) -- although it was a turbulent year -- was the most prosperous of all my years in city ministry. One of the reasons for that was that for perhaps 10-15 years, I or we had been building bequests into the finances. We all (plural) approved it, while I (singular) put the suggestion to members as I saw them on my pastoral visits. The more that time went by, therefore, the more that had an impact on the finances. OBSERVATION: Some people said fluke, fluke! But it wasn't a fluke. It was simply irregular income, as all bequests are.
