Agential AI
My post yesterday, Lay Criminal Charges, raises some questions. I describe there how AI, while I was using it, identified a criminal offence. But is it OK for AI to discover a crime -- and let it pass? Now add to the mix agential AI -- a recent, advanced form of AI which is designed to make decisions and plan actions. Is it possible that in, say, ten years, AI will identify a criminal offence and report it? OBSERVATION: And what if, as often happens in South Africa, crimes are reported, but humans are unwilling or unable to take appropriate action? Perhaps in the very far future, machines may take action.
