Length of Sabbaticals
How much time should a minister be granted for sabbaticals? If one can take the biblical sabbatical year as an example (Leviticus 25), this averages out at 52 days per annum. Say that a minister already has 30 days per annum, he or she would then be granted an additional 110 days every 5 years, which is about four months in all. OBSERVATION: In my later ministry, we arranged it like this: I had a month off in summer, and a month off in winter, with no additional sabbatical or furlough. I also had four Sundays a year off preaching. However, that did not mean time off. It meant a shift of emphasis.
