Nature Pushes Back

It's a photo of indigenous vegetation pushing back against cultivated grass -- Cape Town's Mouille Point lighthouse in the background. The dying grass is due to a severe drought. OBSERVATION: Cape Town is (was) a patch of green surrounded mostly by semi-desert. One sees this on Google Maps. In a worst case, they say, we are experiencing the rapid desertification of that green patch. No one would like to think so. The widely accepted view is that there is a slow, linear progression towards a drier city.
