One of my most memorable funerals was jumped on me. A man called me up: “Would you conduct a funeral, Sir?” We exchanged a few words -- then I said: “When?” He said: “The hearse is on its way, Sir -- and the mourners, too. I apologise, Sir, for giving such short notice.” I was at the Church, but I was very casually dressed, so I jumped in my three-wheeler to go and get a suit on and grab some notes -- and got back just in time to conduct the funeral. OBSERVATION: The mourners were lucky to have a funeral that fast. It was incidentally an African National Congress (ANC) functionary who died, of meningitis. The ANC went out of their way to thank me.
