Counselling Urban Toughs

A lot of counselling in urban situations is with local "toughs". It's a battle-field that involves violence, abuse, hard-heartedness, deception, selfishness, stupidity, criminal acts, and more. An urban minister is therefore accustomed to going into situations "all guns blazing": "What is going on here? Why? What do you think you are doing? Sit down. Get out," and so on. But in the midst of this there really are some beautiful, shy, gentle souls -- which one can easily forget, or momentarily overlook. OBSERVATION: I once counselled a young woman. As I sought to get to the core of the problem, she put her hands over her face and peeped at me through her fingers. I realised then that she wasn't the average urban "tough"!
