Enough Of Ministry

A while back, I met for lunch with a minister friend. He had resigned from ministry -- and said he didn’t want to go back. This was the final curtain. I asked him why. He said simply, “Thirty years. I’ve had enough.” His reputation was intact. His Church was thriving. It had millions in the bank! I had the sense that he was disillusioned with ministry. OBSERVATION: But a year later, he went back -- with enthusiasm. It is an illustration, I think, of the need for refreshment in ministry. Ministers can easily be drained -- because the ministry is so demanding. A good Church recognises this and plans around the minister's need.
