Working with Authors

As philosophy editors, we typically accept a piece because it is conceptually strong. It has character. It may not yet be publishable, and this is what I enjoy -- working with authors to get a piece publishable. If one can achieve it, it is a triumph -- not just an academic triumph, but a personal triumph. One came to terms with the author, and the author approved the piece, following collaboration. Here's an example of an author's final response to me:
Dear Thomas
Well worth the wait - very comfortable with this - many thanks for your major help.
Just the two typos: motiovated [3rd para] and strenghen [9th para].
Kind regards
