What is Love

Some time back, I edited an article by a Pacific author, on "love". The Pacific word is made up of two words: tang (crying) and ira (suffering). Mutual love is tang and tang (both persons crying) and iri (suffering) Needless to say, this is very different to the English meaning, which is basically "desire". An interesting thing, too, is that the Pacific meaning is overt, while the meaning in English may not be immediately clear. OBSERVATION: It surely makes a difference how one defines "love". This is a frequent sermon topic in Churches.
