Did God Do It?
A question which came up in a Bible study last night was: "When bad things happen, did God do it?" A particular Bible verse: "He struck down the firstborn of Egypt. His love endures forever." But now consider the very opposite: "When bad things happen, God didn't do it." That has devastating potential where someone is at the end of their rope -- and not even when they are at the end of their rope. Bearing in mind that people have troubles which are more desperate than many of us imagine. It is, I think, the cruelest answer. OBSERVATION: There was outrage in the press when Glenn Hoddle stated about bad things: "The karma is working from another lifetime." That is something else. (He was sacked for it, as England football manager, which I would not have favoured).
