Adding And Subtracting

I have spent a few days surrounded by the sounds of kwela, barking dogs, and children playing in the streets (in the townships), and in the morning, roosters crowing. My sister-in-law installed a cold shower in anticipation of my coming (she put in a washbasin in anticipation of a previous visit). Yet in the act of putting something in, something else was taken out: the door. In fact, the door was replaced with an opening far bigger than the door once was. OBSERVATION: Those of European origin will appreciate the cultural significance of this.
