Middle Ages Mores

There was a good looking young couple I married several years ago -- and, until recently, guided through some challenges of their marriage. Last year, tragically, she died at a young age. Yesterday her husband said that his employer had given him three days off, to deal with his wife's death. He took two weeks off instead -- and kept his job. But where was the humanity in this? Wherever one looks, one seems still to be in the Middle Ages, if they ever were that bad. OBSERVATION: At the same time, there are humane employers, and exemplary.
