Through most of my ministry, we have given away Bibles or we have heavily subsidised them, as missions projects. This includes children's Bibles. As an example, we decided one year to buy fifty children's Bibles to (hopefully) cover every child in our Youth and Sunday School. The question then was which one -- and we made quite a serious search. The choice fell on the One Year Children's Bible by Rhona Davies from Tyndale Publishers, and I still very much like this book. In fact I read it myself. In the spirit of William Tyndale, it is not merely a Bible story book, as so many children's Bibles are. It is a straight translation in kiddies' language, albeit abridged. (It even has the assassination of King Eglon).
