Remembrance And Forgetting

Conducting Holy Communion this morning, I focused on the words of Christ: "Do this in remembrance of Me." I said that the opposite of remembrance is forgetting. We have a natural tendency to forget that we are saved by grace through faith in Him -- and keep slipping back into a works-based thinking and apprehension and fear. OBSERVATION: In fact, I have found that this is one of the biggest issues in spiritual counselling. Assuming of course that one has been saved by grace through faith.
