This is a story which reveals some of the pressure of urban ministry. Where do you go, if you are desperate? Well, to the Church. First thing one morning, a couple with a young boy insisted on seeing the minister. Our secretary checked with me, and said sorry, he is fully booked. But they waited. They huddled from the rain under an awning, for ten hours -- hoping to catch sight of me at the Church. By now, our secretary had long gone home, and I had no idea they were still there. I needed to call in at the Church -- another appointment. The man got up and ran into the rain. He smiled broadly and said, “Pastor, you can help us!” I said: “I wish we could, but we can't. It’s a situation of complete overload.” He said, “You can! You can!” I said: “We can't. But let me see if anyone else can.” OBSERVATION: Indeed, somebody else could.
